Welcome to the TUNED project

The expansion of uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) in U-Space requires new tools to manage environmental and societal impacts, particularly noise and its effects on people and wildlife. Using machine learning, high-quality data, and representative case studies, the EU-funded TUNED project will model drone noise across urban, peri-urban, and rural environments and quantify human and wildlife exposure. It will consider diverse drone types and operating conditions, linking noise exposure to human perception and wildlife disturbance. The project will deliver a drone sound source model, define societal acceptance thresholds, and generate evidence to support risk mitigation and policy development in ecologically sensitive areas. By providing robust tools and guidance, TUNED will support sustainable, economically viable, and publicly acceptable U-Space deployment.
